Worst Divide Ever?

"The election has split America as never before." Is the partisan divide deeper than it has been in generations past or is it American politics as usual?

Not “American politics,” American hubris perhaps? I wouldn’t say the current political climate is the worst divide the States have ever had; I think Gettysburg is probably the more likely answer. What is happening now though, is well cloaked McCarthyism. It seems automatic for not only patriotism, but personal morality (enter religion), to be called into question when opinions clash. People have to understand that tempers flare because we are all passionate about our beliefs as to what’s best
